The suburb of Ivanhoe is situated in the Victorian capital city of Melbourne. Residing about ten kilometres away from the Melbourne city centre, Ivanhoe is a neighbour to the suburbs of Preston, Thornbury, Alphington, Bellfield, Kew East, Heidelberg, Eaglemont and Ivanhoe East. Australian actress Cate Blanchett grew up in the suburb.

Ivanhoe is a residential suburb still featuring a commercial area, a few education institutions and recreational facilities for locals. The houses in the area are known for their older style, and some of them were constructed in the 1800s and 1900s. The district located on Upper Heidelberg Road contains the suburb�s main commercial precinct. Here, residents will find a newsagent, a veterinary clinic, banks, real estate agents, two supermarkets, a book store and plenty of cafes and restaurants.

The schools servicing the area include Ivanhoe Primary School, which is one of the oldest state schools in Victoria, Ivanhoe Girls� Grammar School and Ivanhoe Grammar. A great number of sporting clubs exist in the suburb, which serve as a testament to the area�s passion for a range of different sports. The football clubs are the Ivanhoe Amateur Football Club, the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians Football Club and the Ivanhoe Junior Football Club, while the soccer club is known as the Ivanhoe City Soccer Club.

The Old Ivanhoe Grammarians also have a cricket club, but other cricket clubs include the West Ivanhoe United Cricket Club and the East Ivanhoe Saints Cricket Club. Basketball, bowls and golf are also played competitively in the suburb.

Ivanhoe�s claim to fame is its phenomenal displays of Christmas lights during the Festive Season. Arranged across houses on The Boulevard, the lights draw in curious observers from all over the city. The whole street is filled with colour each year as residents adorn their homes and gardens in lights, ornaments, tinsel, holly and other Christmas decorations. The tradition of turning the street into a Christmas paradise began in the 1950s, and now the street receives more than 100,000 people each year.

The suburb�s aquatic centre is known as Ivanhoe Aquatic Banyule, and is a popular space for anybody looking to get fit, keep busy and have fun. The centre contains a health club, personal training services, a range of adult programs including group fitness classes, swimming lessons, karate lessons, a 25-metre indoor pool that spans across seven lanes, a learning pool, a sauna and spa centre and childcare facilities.

We can deliver to most hospitals in and around Ivanhoe. We will endeavour to have your hospital flowers delivered but some hospitals have strict policies about flower and gift basket deliveries. Check with the hospital before sending flowers to ensure they can be delivered. Many patients recovering from surgery, seriously ill or in ICU cannot receive flowers and gifts. Alternatively, we can arrange for delivery to the recipients home when they are discharged from hospital.
